On August 28, 2024, the Sierra Club Military Outdoors (SCMO) campaign reviewed their newest report: the Outdoor Access for the Military Community Summer 2024 Recommendations Report.


This report, created in conjunction with the University of Kentucky’s Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky, proposes key recommendations centered around increasing access and accessibility to the outdoors for the military community. We’re proud to share the culmination of our yearlong effort that included a national survey and live listening sessions with veterans and military communities across the country.

Sierra Club and University of Kentucky release military outdoor accessibility report

The Sierra Club Military Outdoors (SCMO) campaign today released a report surveying the military community’s experiences with the outdoors, including a set of recommendations for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Task Force on Outdoor Recreation for Veterans to improve outdoor accessibility for the veteran and the military community.
