- When: Saturday, July 13 from 12-3 p.m.
- Where: Riverside Park at 1598 Riverside Dr. in Woodfin.
All are welcome to join us! We ask that you bring a potluck dish and/or dessert to share. Please label the ingredients, as many participants are vegan and vegetarian, and some may have food allergies.
There will be a grill so you can also bring something to cook. Veggie burgers will be provided. Please bring your own place settings as we are trying to avoid throwaway plastic utensils and paper plates.
We hope to see you there! It's a great way to interact with like-minded nature lovers and environmental activists.
Free Butterfly Milkweed at the Picnic
Want to help reverse monarch butterfly decline? The best way is to plant native milkweed - their caterpillar host plant. Butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is gorgeous and doesn't spread like common milkweed. It's rich in nectar and attracts lots of bees and butterflies.
For several years, Bee City USA - Asheville has been the beneficiary of hundreds of milkweed plants from Timbo Wilkins and Costa Farms. This year, Bee City USA - Asheville is offering these plants for free at the Sierra Club's annual picnic on July 13.
