Did you know that 70% of the land you enjoy viewing from the Blue Ridge Parkway is privately owned? Do you realize that means it could be logged or developed?
Join us for a discussion about how to protect these lands. Learn more about conservation strategies and preservation of Western North Carolina lands, including around the Blue Ridge Parkway. The speakers for this program are:
John Ager, who served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 115th district, from 2015 to 2023. He will talk about the creation of the Land Conservation Advisory Board, the Agriculture Advisory Board and the easements for Hickory Nut Gap Farm.
Kyle Shute, Land Protection Associate for the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, will talk about conservation strategies and the organization’s history of preserving Western North Carolina lands.
This program will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6. At 7 p.m. in room 102 of the UNC-Asheville Reuter Center at 300 Campus View Drive. It will also be available via Zoom. Register in advance for the Zoom meeting or visit WNCSierraClub.org.
