The certificate of public convenience (see below for link to the docket and order) has been issued for the 5 MW of solar to be installed on the retired landfill in Woodfin on Riverside Dr. This is amazing news and means this project that has faced criticism from the NCUC Public Staff is moving forward finally! In the order, the scores of letters in support of this project were noted. Thanks to everyone who sent in a letter of support and for the organizations who signed on in support of this project! 

 

This will be Duke Energy's first solar project on a landfill and helps to fulfill the 15 MW of solar energy committed by Duke Energy in the Western North Carolina Modernization Plan.
