In collaboration with the Unitarian Coastal Fellowship, the Croatan Group is hosting:

Movie Discussion on “Kiss the Ground”

Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 (please watch the movie either on Netflix or through the “One Earth Film Festival before the discussion)

Let's Think About New Positive Responses to Climate Change!

We are all familiar with the idea of reducing our green house gas emissions by using clean energy like solar and wind, but is that enough to avoid the worst case scenarios of climate change? The answer is NO and we will need to also work to pull CO2 from the atmosphere by sequestration. The film that we will be discussing on March 16, at 6:30 PM at the Zoom link below is called "Kiss the Ground".  This is part of the wonderful "One Earth Film Fest"  which will be showing a number of environmental films from March 5-14. The one we have chosen to discuss, "Kiss the Ground", will be shown for free on Saturday, March 13, at 11AM, and tickets are available at this link: https://www.oneearthfilmfest.org/   Our film is also on Netflix and can be watched anytime for free by clicking on: https://kissthegroundmovie.com/ , click on "watch", scroll down to four ways to watch, and click on the first option, "stream on Netflix". It will then come up on your computer screen and you can connect it to your TV screen, if you choose to do so.   Or, if you subscribe to Netflix you can just type in the title and watch it that way. Please read the description below and join us for the lively discussion on TU, March 16, at 6:30PM at the Zoom link below.

FILM DESCRIPTION: Narrated and featuring Woody Harrelson, “Kiss the Ground” is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that explores the first viable solution to our climate crisis. “Kiss the Ground” reveals that, by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. Using compelling graphics and visuals, along with striking NASA and NOAA footage, the film artfully illustrates how, by drawing down atmospheric carbon, soil is the missing piece of the climate puzzle. This movie is positioned to catalyze a movement to accomplish the impossible–to solve humanity’s greatest challenge, to balance the climate and secure our species’ future.
