For Immediate Release
November 4, 2011 Contact Jeff Tittel, 609-558-9100 Christie's Sweet Tweet
"Yesterday's Tweet by Governor Christie may have been one of those unfortunate slips that actually may be more telling of what the Governor is up to. When the Governor said that this was his long standing commitment to developing open spaces we think he meant it."
. The Governor's plan to privatize parks will be putting more development in our open spaces and leasing or selling off our historic sites to private developers and companies.
. The Governor's State Strategic Plan will require green acres and other open space areas to conform to the Governor's Growth Plan. This will block the ability for town sand others to buy open spaces, preservation areas, and growth areas like blue acres on flood prone properties.
. Under the Governor the amount of money has declined significantly for open spaces from around $230 million down to about $130 million.
"The Governor's Tweet maybe a fake or a Freudian slip but there is more truth in those words than anything the Governor said yesterday," said Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club. Below is Governor Christie's Tweet: GovChristie Governor Christie Today's announcement @ Greystone is just a part of my longstanding commitment to developing open spaces across NJ.bit.ly/uT7OIR
