We hike, kayak, canoe, cleanup, meet and eat.
In 1892 John Muir lobbied and started the movement to preserve our natural lands, (wild nature, and developed) for posterity and public enjoyment. We continue that philosophy by protecting our species from pollution and dirty politics . Expensive Pipelines versus Green Alternative Energy; miners vs minors. Through education, patience and compromise we hope to keep our planet healthy. We often partner with other environmental groups on these issues and lobby our representatives local, state and national.Especially diversion of preserved and open space land to commercial. Pipelines and development threaten our water and air. These dangers and the new administration will signify to organizations like the Sierra Club that we need to organize for activism. The Central Group is working on local environmental issues to preserve open space, promote effective planning, control invasive species, protect wetlands and build trails. We actively oppose the Transco pipeline in Princeton/Montgomery, natural gas pipelines in New Jersey, fracking and fracking waste disposal in New Jersey.
We encourage you to attend your towns meetings so you become aware of proposals that may have negative environmental impact. Example, My town has passed a open space tax to stop development that will over crowd our schools.
