75,000+ People, 700 Organizations Attend NYC March for a Fossil Free Future
New York City - Yesterday, 75,000 people joined the March to End Fossil Fuels in New York City urging President Biden to stop the expansion of fossil fuels and declare a climate emergency. The march was endorsed by over 700 organizations, including the Sierra Club, and finished its route at the United Nations Headquarters where world leaders are convening for Climate Week (September 17-24th).

New Jersey Sierra Club Director, Anjuli Ramos-Busot, released the following statement:
“It was incredibly moving to see thousands of young people, Indigenous leaders, social justice and environmental organizations, and climate activists come together for one of the largest collective actions since the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to end our reliance on fossil fuels now in order to preserve a livable future for our next generations. As we have seen this past summer, the hottest one ever recorded, climate change is here. And we are feeling the effects of fossil fuel infrastructure everyday in New Jersey through our poor air quality, congested highways, and polluted lands and waters. Our New Jersey Chapter was proud to attend the March within the larger Sierra Club community, and join the movement for a fossil free future.”
