As an environmental organization, the Sierra Club closely follows how our elected officials vote, which bills they support and their overall positions on the climate, and environmental and social justice. Each year we recognize candidates who most closely align with Sierra Club values and those who do generally receive our endorsement.
Endorsements are primarily based on the candidate’s environmental record, specifically those who support and promote legislation that protects the environment and mitigates climate change in a just and equitable way. Sponsorships and co-sponsorships are especially important, beyond just the voting record. We also give weight to candidates who champion environmental justice issues and who address the concerns of marginalized communities.
The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5. Please consider voting for the candidates we have endorsed.
