Madrone Group

The Sierra Club Madrone Group is the local organization for members living on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada in Amador and El Dorado Counties.

Group Update

We are now the Madrone Group!

The Executive Committee voted in April to change the group name from Maidu to Madrone.  Our rationale was that we had no record of the Maidu people giving us permission to use their name and the Maidu are (were) not located in most of our geographic range.  We selected Madrone at the suggestion of David Zelinski as some of the largest madornes in California are found in our region.

Executive Committee

Would you like to serve on the Madrone Group ExCom? We need help. Due to a number of members moving or just moving on to other activities we have openings to fill. We have two positions up for election in the 2023-24 term.  One incumbent plans to run for re-election. We need at least one more member to serve.  You can contact Barbara Brydon 916-247-4677 for information about the responsibilities and time commitment.

Internet Presence

Do you have experience with web platforms and/or social media?  We need volunteers that can help maintain our web presence.  We have a page on the SIerra Club Website that needs to be updated a few times a year.  We also have a Facebook page that has languished due to inattention. This person(s) would not need to be a member of the ExCom.

We thank Brie, Jason, Steve, and Barbara for their years of service as they move on to other endeavors.
