About

The Sierra Club Montana Chapter is locally run by a volunteer board (the Executive Committee, or "ExCom") elected by Chapter members. The Chapter works locally and coordinates with partner organizations and Sierra Club national campaign staff members to create change on the issues important in our state. Chapter volunteers and staff carry out campaigns to protect public lands, wildlife and waters, as well as to address the climate crisis by supporting a just transition from fossil fuel energy to clean, renewable energy sources. Volunteers can also learn to be citizen lobbyists and participate in each Montana Legislative session to effect change on the issues dear to our hearts, or they can volunteer with our Political Committee to get environmental and justice champions elected and hold politicians accountable. The Chapter offers outings and events, and we strive to support volunteer participation on many levels.

The Montana Chapter produces an annual (and sometimes semiannual) newsletter, The Montana Sierran. Members receive a copy in the mail.
