Expand Skills-Volunteer Regularly

Why take time to volunteer on a regular basis?

A couple of excellent reasons are to learn something new and to develop skills that you already have. Volunteering gives people a "safe" way to try new things, rather than, say, biting off more than you can chew on that critical new project at work.

Everybody has something unique to contribute. By volunteering, you can usually ease into a project. You lend time and expertise to an appreciative organization, and are rewarded by building new skills and confidence, which can be applied to your job or in other areas of your life. And if you're job-hunting, volunteering looks good on a resume. And don't forget about networking. You never know who you might meet!

Can you think of ways that your own skills might help the Sierra Club grow as an organization and protect the environment? Give us a call at (314) 644-0890, or (314) 645-2032 with your ideas. Be sure to check out the Volunteer Opportunities section on page 10 and the Outings pages for a wide variety of current club needs.
