Missouri Sierra Club Endorses Cori Bush for Congress
Missouri’s Largest Grassroots Environmental Group Continues Strong Support for Bush
St. Louis: Today, the Missouri Chapter of the Sierra Club announces its endorsement of Cori Bush for Congress in Missouri’s 1st District. The Chapter also endorsed Bush in the 2020 and 2022 election as well given her strong commitment to the fight for a healthy climate and a future where all benefit from a healthy thriving planet and a direct connection to nature.
“Cori Bush continues to demonstrate that she not only stands for the protection of our natural world, but that she understands how human and societal problems are intertwined with the environment,” said Missouri Sierra Club Chapter Director Gretchen Waddell Barwick. “Congresswoman Bush is the leader that Missourians can count on to prioritize both the people and the places they love, which is why our Chapter is proud to endorse her for a second term in Congress.”
According to the League of Conservation Voters, Bush has a 100% pro-environmental voting record during her three years in Congress. She also has been a stalwart supporter of the Green New Deal and the Climate Resilience Workforce Act. Along with Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), Bush introduced the Environmental Justice Mapping and Data Act to bring justice to communities that have been harmed by racist and unjust environmental practices. Furthermore, Bush has been a champion for environmental justice on issues such as the radioactive waste at Westlake Landfill, and the economic and environmental repercussions from Spire’s unlawful pipeline.
“Missouri Sierra Club is prepared to mobilize its members and supporters to elect Cori Bush to Congress. We feel strongly that Bush is the ideal candidate for the citizens of Missouri’s 1st District.”
