In early September 2004, while driving up to Minneapolis to join the Sierra Club's EVEC team, I drove past a huge windfarm in northern Iowa near the Minnesota border. There were probably a hundred wind turbines covering acre upon acre of 7-foot Iowa corn, visible from I-35.
Being a "big fan" of clean energy (pardon the pun), naturally I had to make an unscheduled detour to check it out at close range. I was able to drive right up to the base of one in the middle of a cornfield. I can't describe the power of the overall effect, but "majestic" comes close.
