Team members have started presentations to community groups on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the tax credits and rebates it offers for conservation and conversion to greener energy sources. So far, members have presented to church groups and community groups, including a neighborhood association in Minneapolis. All the presentations have been well-received.
The Clean Energy Team is eager to give the presentation to as many groups as possible, including to lower-income people who may be eligible for up to $14,000 in rebates. This information is valuable. If you know of a group that might be interested, please contact Patty O’Keefe or John Krenn.
The team continues to be active at the state legislature, now that bills have gone into committee. Legislators have expressed some reluctance to introduce or pass climate-related legislation, as so much was done in the previous year. Not a good reason; there is still much to do.
Several volunteer activities:
- Legislative phone-banking on Thursdays.
- Tabling and clipboarding throughout the summer. Clipboarding involves approaching event attendees to request signatures and support, which has proved more effective than waiting for people to approach the table.
- Contact the Public Utilities Commission regarding a number of issues. Contact Lee Samelsen for details and suggestions.
And, of course, you can join the Clean Energy Team, which meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30. Contact John Krenn or Patty O’Keefe to get the Zoom link, or just go to the chapter calendar to join in.
