Climate-friendly land use policies are gaining ground. The "Missing Middle Housing" bill is gaining bipartisan support and combined energy from people who care about climate and people who care about housing. Additionally, a bill to help resolve the litigation stalling the Minneapolis 2040 plan is making good progress this session as well. Members from the LUT team toured a new climate-friendly, multi-unit building — "Solstice" in Northeast Minneapolis — getting an up-close look at energy-efficient construction. The building is a great example of the kind of housing density both the Missing Middle bill and the Minneapolis 2040 plan are designed to encourage, with more density near transit corridors and within walking distance of city amenities.
