The Land Use and Transportation team was joined February by Saint Paul city planners for a special presentation on the city's 1-4 unit housing study. As part of its 2040 Comprehensive Plan, the city is considering zoning changes that would help develop housing in the "Missing Middle," the gap between single-family homes and highrises. The LUT team discussed how, in conjunction with improved transit, walking, and bicycling, these zoning changes could help provide for a greater diversity of neighborhood housing needs.
We also heard exciting updates from the legislative session on the proposed Northern Lights Express train between Minneapolis and Duluth, as well as the push for ongoing funding for transit, bicycling, and walking.
Do you like to bike? You can help Hennepin County renew its Bicycle Friendly Community status by filling out a short survey. You do not need to live in the county to complete this survey. Please include a plug to extend the Midtown Greenway over the Mississippi River.
