The Sierra Club North Star Chapter Executive Committee is conducting its annual recruitment process to identify potential candidates for its upcoming elections. Please submit nominations via this form as soon as possible and no later than September 1, 2022.
Each year a third of the Sierra Club North Star Chapter's fifteen-member Executive Committee (ExCom) reaches the end of their terms. Some decide not to run again, others do. Current members are listed here. The ExCom sets the chapter budget and strategic direction, hires the state director, upholds the chapter's commitments to equity and environmental justice, supports fundraising, chooses a delegate to the national Council of Club Leaders, and votes on litigation and electoral endorsements.
To accomplish all of this, the ExCom meets monthly with e-mail correspondence between meetings. The ExCom also participates in and plans additional important events throughout the year.
After receiving and reviewing nominations, the Nominations Committee will consider and recommend candidates for the ballot, which is published in the Fall/Winter issue of the North Star Journal. Candidates may also get on the ballot by petition. Candidates get space on the ballot to advocate for their election. Candidates receiving the top votes will start their three-year terms in January 2023.
