The Sierra Club North Star Chapter via The Sierra Club Foundation is a member of the Minnesota Environmental Fund (MEF), which provides valuable funding and opportunities to collaborate with other environmental groups throughout the state.

Founded in 1991, MEF has generated over $14 million by engaging workplaces and individuals to support leading nonprofit organizations that protect, conserve and restore Minnesota’s environment. Workplace donors can have direct paycheck deductions and can designate funds to one or more of its 20+ member organizations.

Funding from MEF has allowed the North Star Chapter to advance our core priorities that are most important to our Minnesota supporters:100 percent clean energy for all; clean transportation and sustainable land use; wildlands and waters protection; and getting Minnesotans outdoors. Addressing environmental racism and grounding our work in the Jemez Principles is integrated throughout all of our work.

Thanks to the Minnesota Environmental Fund, we are able to leverage national expertise, local knowledge and members’ passions to execute winning campaigns – along the way developing a base of community leaders and supporters taking action to build an ever-growing movement.
