The hard work of our dedicated campaign teams is paying off. Many successes have been realized and more projects are in the queue.
Zero Waste Task Force

Revised a proposed resolution to eliminate Minnesota government use of single-use plastic, which the chapter included in precinct caucus training sessions.

Will be presenting a class in March on reducing water use and preserving our water resources to 4th-8th graders at the Bdote Learning Center—a K-8 Dakota and Ojibwe language immersion program.

Is planning another collaboration with Augsburg University to host an environmental-related film.
Stop Line 3

Supported a winter story-telling event and feast that focused on clean water and wild rice on January 16th at the Bdote Learning Center. Petitions opposing Line 3 were also circulated and later delivered to Gov. Walz.

Will be collaborating with the Learning Center for its two-week "Intersession” by teaching a class on how to talk to legislators and taking a field trip to the Capitol with the students to deliver the petitions.

Helped South High honor students with a Stop Line 3 letter writing day, which resulted in twenty hand-written letters to key state leaders, including Gov. Walz.

Is preparing to launch a Mutual Aid Drive to collect gear and non-perishable food to support Indigenous communities on the front line of opposing Enbridge Line 3.

Is working to organize and train volunteer Line 3 monitors in the event that the project is approved.
Land Use and Transportation

Joined over a thousand groups across the country on Transit Equity Day—an event on February 4 combating climate change and transportation injustice. Participants took public transportation for their daily commutes and supporters gathered at Minneapolis City Hall to push for bus rapid transit implementation on I-94 in North Minneapolis.

Discussed a plan to convince the legislature to expand bus rapid transit and pass cleaner car standards with urgency.

Helped score a big win in St Paul, where the City Council voted to move forward with funding a bike and pedestrian path on Ayd Mill Road.
