Your help is needed to protect our clean air and water. A “dirty environment” bill passed by legislators Monday night is headed to the Governor for approval. He needs to hear from Minnesotans so he can stand strong and reject this bill. Provisions include but are not limited to (More info from the Minnesota Environmental Partnership here):
- Exempts sulfide mining waste from solid waste rules
- Grants polluters amnesty from enforcement and penalties
- Allows deceptive labeling for pollinator-friendly plants
- Suspends the sulfate standard that protects wild rice
- Raids clean water funds
- Abolishes the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Citizens' Board
- Weakens wetlands protections that open the door to increased sulfide mining
Please take action to ask Governor Dayton to veto this bill and send it back to be fixed.
