Proposal to:
Flood Mounds State Park and dam the White River

Heartlands has been active along with Heart of the River in proposing other alternatives such as a Greenway.
The dam would destroy the fragile and rare wetlands area called the Fen Nature Preserve that is inside Mounds State Park.
Last year we had several presentations with naturalist Kevin Tungestavek talking about why this area is so important. We also went on a canoe trip along with Heart of the River and learned firsthand how gorgeous this area is and exactly what would be flooded. In addition to a third of Mounds State Park being flooded, approximately 400 low income homes in Anderson, Indiana would be destroyed.
On Saturday January 24, 2015 Heartlands Group and Heart of the river sponsored an afternoon with Environmental Author Scott Russell Sanders (http://www.scottrussellsanders.com/)
Over 100 people attended this event.
