Nature art workshop for kids 2018

On August 25 2018, we held an art workshop with a nature theme for children at our offices in Indianapolis. Five artists - Monica Cannaley, Brishen Vanderkolk, Lylanne Musselman, Catherine Cunningham, and Rochelle Cohen - who featured in our Environmental Justice in Indiana exhibition came to chat about their work and help children attending with their art. We hope to hold more events like this for children in the future. Here are some of their creations!

Why is it important to look after the environment? To save the environment. To be able to breathe. 

Tell us something about you! I love to go for walks, ride my bike and hug trees. My favorite color is green.

Why is it important to look after the environment? If we don't look after the environment, there will be no environment to look after us-

  • there will be no trees to give us air
  • no fields to give us food
  • no lakes to give us water

  • I am growing an orange tree

Why is it important to look after the environment? It is important to look after the environment because everything needs it so if we destroy it most things will die.

Tell us something about you! I am very deaf so I can't hear much.

Why is it important to look after the environment? Because it is making sure the animals are safe. Trees help plants and us by giving us oxygen. 

Tell us something about you! I like Lego. I like to nudge Mama like a cat. My favorite animal is a cat. I like flowers. My favorite flower is a sunflower. We all like them!
