Join us for our next monthly speaker series — Spring Avian Migration Along the Mississippi River — on Tuesday, March 8, at 6:00pm! We'll be joined by Emily Connor, the Education Manager at the Audubon Center at Riverlands. Emily earned her BS from the University of Tampa and studied Environmental Science and Marine Science-Biology, where she performed ecological and inorganic chemistry research. Emily will talk about the significance of spring migration along the Mississippi flyway and will highlight a few of the spring nesting birds that we will begin to see in the Metro East region. Growing up, Emily always seemed to find her way to the water—fishing in Oklahoma streams and rivers with family, swimming and turning over rocks on the coast, and noticing all the wildlife that was tied to the water. She enjoys facilitating nature-based experiential learning with diverse groups in our region and hopes to contribute to environmental justice in urban areas through environmental education.
The Audubon Center at Riverlands works to connect people to the beauty and significance of the Mississippi River and the Great Rivers confluence, to inspire conservation of the river's rich diversity in birds, wildlife, and other natural resources, and to support healthy, vibrant communities.
