March Speaker's Series ~ Homegrown Apothecary

Crystal Stevens, Co-Founder of the Tend & Flourish School of Botanicals, will discuss how to create a Homegrown Apothecary. Topics will include creating medicinal herb gardens, tea gardens, and native medicinal herb gardens. She will provide recipes for simple homegrown tea blends, tinctures, and other medicinal preparations and will also cover ethical wild foraging and backyard medicine.


Crystal Stevens lives along the bluffs of the Mighty Mississippi River in Godfrey, Illinois with her husband, and two children. Stevens is an author, artist/art teacher, folk herbalist, regenerative farmer, and permaculturist. She has written 3 books published by New Society Publishers: Grow Create InspireWorms at Work, and Your Edible Yard. Stevens speaks at conferences and Mother Earth News fairs across the United States. She has been teaching a Resilient Living workshop series for over a decade. She and her husband, Eric Stevens, co-founded FLOURISH which encompasses a farm, a plant nursery, an apothecary, design services, and educational programming. Stevens runs a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) collective with Rona Leah of Celeste Farm. They are the primary producers, and they also purchase from other women and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) farmers. Stevens Co-founded Tend & Flourish School of Botanicals with Alex Queathem which includes an Herbal Foundations Program.
