Join Shannon Fulton, President of the Illinois Solar Energy Association and Director of Business Development at StraightUp Solar, as she explains the local potential for solar photovoltaic (electric) energy to create jobs and yield environmental and financial benefits to individuals, businesses, and communities. She will also discuss how solar advocates across the state have participated in local grassroots efforts to enact positive change by growing the support for policy measures to support sustainable energy. Come out to learn how you can take back the power and get involved in local solar advocacy.
Shannon joined StraightUp Solar in 2013 as Director of Illinois Business Development after many years in environmental consulting as an Illinois Licensed Professional Geologist. She also lives her passion for advancing the use of renewable energy by serving as President of the Illinois Solar Energy Association and as a Solar Ambassador for WeCare Solar, a non-profit focused on reducing infant mortality by equipping off-grid medical clinics in developing countries with solar power for lighting and emergency communication.

At 8:45, after the presentation, the Piasa Palisades Group will host a vigil for climate action outside the church with the Illinois Solar Energy Association.
