Donate to Sierra Club

The Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter works hard to promote renewable energy solutions, ensure a clean, safe water supply, and protect our natural, open spaces. Please join with other Sierra Club members who are committed to our work and make a donation today. There are many different ways to show your support.

Make a one-time gift or become a sustaining donor to the Illinois Chapter

Your gift, 100% of which will stay here in Illinois, helps support our volunteers and staff that are tackling the challenges of global warming with solutions, protecting our wetlands, prairies and forests from development and protecting Lake Michigan and our rivers from pollution. Because we lobby effectively for better environmental laws, general contributions to Sierra Club are not tax-deductible.

Make a gift to the Sierra Club IL PAC

Your contribution will be used to elect pro-environment candidates that reflect Sierra Club's commitment to clean air, clean water, preserving our unique places and challenging climate disruption. Because your contribution will be used to help elect pro-environment candidates, gifts made to the PAC are not tax-deductible. A copy of our report filed with the State Board of Elections is (or will be) available on the Board’s official website ( www.elections.il.gov ) or for purchase from the State Board of Elections, Springfield, Illinois

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution

1. Do you want to save Illinois' environment while reducing your taxes?

2. Are you at least 70.5 years or older?

If you answered YES to the questions above, consider a charitable IRA rollover!

Use your required minimum distribution (RMD) for good. If you are at least 70.5 years or older, you can satisfy your RMD and save on taxes by making a gift to support Sierra Club Illinois’ charitable programs through the Sierra Club Foundation directly from your IRA.

With an IRA Charitable Rollover, you can see the impact your gift has in protecting Illinois’ environment throughout your lifetime.

Funds remaining in retirement accounts after your lifetime are heavily taxed if left to someone other than a spouse. Many donors choose to use their IRA resources for charitable giving, while leaving other less tax burden assets to family and friends.

Designating your gift to “Sierra Club Illinois” will protect Illinois’s environment for generations to come. For more information, please contact us at illinois.chapter@sierraclub.org or (312) 251-1680
