Residents and consumer advocates urged state regulators to reject a proposed $402 million rate hike sought by Peoples Gas.
"I'm really troubled [that Peoples Gas is] using this rate hike to elongate the life of natural gas infrastructure. This is a really good opportunity for us to start to transition to technology that is going to be safer for families and better for the climate," said Caroline Wooten, Organizing Director with Sierra Club Illinois.
