Sierra Club Illinois and our endorsed candidates are still hard at work! The biggest in-person event I have been to yet was hosted by State Senator Laura Ellman of Senate District 21 and State Representative Janet Yang-Rohr of House District 41. Both of these amazing leaders running for re-election were supported by the attendance and participation of Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. The campaign office was so packed with Sierra Club Illinois members and friends that I accidentally stepped on Lieutenant Governor Stratton’s foot, so that’s my new political claim to fame! I had the pleasure to talk with all of these excellent champions for the environment, as well as our Director Jack Darin, about renewable energy in Illinois. Josselyn and I had a beautiful afternoon canvassing in Naperville!

The countdown to Election Day is quickly approaching! The incredible folks working on all of the various campaign trails have been tirelessly working to get our endorsed candidates elected. We had a fantastic turnout for a Sierra Club Canvass Day of Action with the River Prairie Group! Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton came out to Naperville to host a canvassing event for Sen. Laura Ellman and Rep. Janet Yang Rohr as they both work towards reelection. It was wonderful to see such an enthusiastic group of people ready to fight and advocate for climate action in Illinois! I had a fun time going door-to-door with Rachel talking to voters about our endorsed candidates. We still have many events to look forward to throughout Illinois. This past weekend, the Northwest Cook Group hosted a canvass for Rep. Michelle Mussman in Schaumburg and another canvass for Maggie Trevor and Rep. Mark Walker in Arlington Heights. Keep up the great work as we get closer to Election Day!
