Voices from the Field, from Rachel Neese
This fall has been sunny, temperate, and politically active in Illinois! As a born and raised resident of Warrenville in DuPage County, I’ve always wanted to work with my neighbors to protect and preserve our environment. I was hired by Sierra Club as a political campaign organizer in September. Since then, I’ve hit the ground running (quite literally) and have been supporting political campaigns from Chicago, to Lombard, to Gurnee. Local Sierra Club groups are working hard to show their support for environmental champions and to continue dialogue in communities across Illinois about the importance of electing candidates who support renewable energy and the water and wild places I love across Illinois. I’ve had the pleasure to meet State Representative Terra Costa Howard, DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner Jeff Gahris, and U.S. Representative Sean Casten. These candidates have all played a unique but critical role in making the future of our state greener. I look forward to keeping Sierra Club members updated throughout this election season by amplifying Voices from the Field.

Voices from the Field, from Josselyn Fano
Hi everyone! My name is Josselyn Fano, and I am a new addition to the Sierra Club. I am working as a political campaign organizer to support Sierra Club Illinois’ endorsed candidates up and down the ballot. I am having a great time getting to know everyone, and getting started on campaign work with some of our regional groups. Environmental activism is incredibly important to me, and navigates my moral compass. I have begun to organize some phone banks, and am inspired to see so many Sierra Club members show up to make calls on behalf of our endorsed candidates. I am eager to plan more events throughout Illinois in the final weeks ahead of the November election! The environment is the most important issue we face today, and it’s on the ballot this November, which is why it’s essential to get out the vote! I would love to get to know and work with everyone, so please feel free to email me at josselyn.fano@sierraclub.org.
