2024 Candidates
Jenna Duffin | Boise
Jenna is a native Idahoan who loves the great outdoors and everything Idaho has to offer. She holds a PhD in Water Resources from the University of Idaho where she studied the effectiveness of river restoration practices and aquatic habitat changes due to water management practices and climate change. Currently, as an ecohydrologist, Jenna works to ensure the health of natural river systems. You can often find Jenna in her garden or on a trail looking at cool rocks. She is passionate about educating and taking action on environmental issues including clean energy, local food, and water resource issues. She has served on the Idaho Sierra Club Executive Committee for 6 years and strives to represent Idaho’s ambitious environmental community and its passion for environmental protection.
Krystal Fairfax | Moscow
Krystal grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where she developed a deep love for the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, and camping across Washington state. She ran her own videography business for several years before a career change brought her to the Palouse region to study at Washington State University. There, she received a BS in Psychology, with extensive research work focused on political behavior and motivation. A resident of Moscow, Krystal works at WSU and serves on the University Appeals Board. She is actively engaged with the Sierra Club, volunteering on the Wild & Scenic Film Festival Team, the Wildlife Justice Team, and as an Outings Leader. Krystal is eager for the opportunity to bring her collaborative leadership approach to the Executive Committee. She is passionate about expanding Sierra Club membership and engagement in Northern Idaho through more frequent Outings, community events, partnerships with local environmental groups, and awareness campaigns.
Jennifer James | Boise
Jennifer has lived most of her life recreating in the Pacific Northwest. She is a strong proponent of making the wilderness welcoming and accessible to everyone, and believes that building a sense of appreciation for the environment will inspire the drive to protect it. She’s been volunteering with the Sierra Club for about a year and a half—leading outings, tabling at events, helping with the Film Festival, attending public hearings and participating in the Wildlife Justice Team. Jennifer has volunteered with other nonprofits for years and held leadership positions in her professional career both in the military and more recently working at HP. Her goal is to continue bolstering our Outings program and using that as a gateway both to increase membership but also participation in the Sierra Club's advocacy work; because she thinks Idaho is an extremely beautiful state, and she’d like it to stay that way.
Anise Welty | Boise
Anise has lived in Idaho for her 16 year life. She has a passion for activism and is excited to find more ways to create change like she has done with the Climate Justice League. She’s a leader who enjoys working with people to create feasible plans for the future. Most importantly, she has seen the harms caused by climate change. She went to school when the air was bad enough that she saw smoke hovering in the hallways. As a friend of refugees, Anise has seen how this hurts the most vulnerable. When the air was clogged with smoke her family had filters to provide more breathable air but this isn’t available to everyone. Anise wants to join the ExCom so she can use her growing leadership and activism skills to connect with people and make this state a better place for everyone, especially those who can’t advocate for change like she does.
