A transition, but not a goodbye

Zack Waterman with his furry family

Dear Idaho Sierra Club members,

After nearly seven years on staff at the Idaho Chapter Sierra Club, I wanted to let our supporters and friends know that I will be transitioning to a new position working on conservation issues in the northwestern US starting in March.

This decision was a very difficult one for me and I already know there is so much I will miss about working for the Idaho Chapter and alongside you all. Thank you all so much for the countless ways you all have contributed to make our work and success possible.

Together, I think we’ve accomplished more than “fighting the good fight” because “someone has to”. I think we’ve actually moved the needle on climate and conservation in one of the most beautiful and conservative states in the nation. When I think about our work, I feel a sense of satisfaction and gratitude. Satisfaction, because I think our work has mattered and actually made a difference. And gratitude, because were it not for the generosity and contributions of so many determined members and supporters with big hearts, none of this would have been possible.

Our work has never been more important. And while I’ll be in a new role soon, I'm excited to continue to conspire and make more positive change in the region together. Be rest assured the Idaho Chapter will be hiring a new director this spring and continuing to build real momentum for conservation and climate solutions.

Sincerely, onward, and thank you,

Zack Waterman
