Celebrate Earth Day with an Electric Car Show!

This Saturday, April 22nd the Idaho Chapter Sierra Club and Whole Foods Market-Boise will being hosting a huge Earth Day Celebration that includes an Electric Car Show from 2 to 5 pm at the Whole Foods in Downtown Boise.

“We are excited to celebrate Earth Day at Whole Foods in Boise and show off the large array of electric vehicles that are driving on Idaho’s roadways, reducing transportation expenses for the owners and decreasing air pollution everyone in the Treasure Valley,” said Casey Mattoon, Conservation Program Manager at the Idaho Chapter Sierra Club.

The Earth Day show comes as sales for electric vehicles are growing across the world and just this month electric car manufacturer Tesla became the most valuable American car company. Included in the line-up of vehicles to be shown off are models from Ford, Nissan, BMW, VW, Chevy, FIAT, Toyota and Tesla. There will also be an electric motorcycle, several e-bike models and electric scooters!

Earth Day is a time to think about our impact on the environment. Saturdays vendors hope to inspire people to reflect on what small actions we can all take to make our climate more sustainable and our communities more livable. Electric vehicles are of particular importance in the Ada County, which recieved a D for ground level ozone pollution in the "State of the Air 2017" report from the American Lung Assocation

“We are living in a time where personal action is more important than ever and people need to do more than just recycle to protect our clean air, water and climate,” Casey urged, “which includes finding ways to reduce our impact with greener consumer choices and seeking out options for alternative transportation.”
