Ready For 100 Georgia is a movement of people working to inspire our local leaders to embrace a vision of a healthier Georgia powered by 100% clean energy.
The Atlanta City Council recently unanimously approved a measure that establishes a community-wide goal of transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy by 2035. The resolution also directs the Atlanta Office of Sustainability to develop a plan to meet the 100 percent renewable energy goal across all city operations by 2025 and community-wide by 2035.
Atlanta represents the first city here in Georgia and the biggest southern city to commit to 100 percent clean, renewable energy. This commitment will inspire bold, ambitious leadership from cities throughout the U.S. and pave the way for a healthier and stronger Atlanta.
There is still more work to do to re-power all of Atlanta with renewable energy. This commitment represents just the starting point for the community. As we move away from fossil fuels to 100 percent clean energy, we must ensure that those most threatened by dirty fuels are first in line to see the benefits that come with this transition.
We look forward to working with our partners and city leaders to realize this vision of an Atlanta powered by 100 percent clean, renewable energy.
