Press release: G Webber issues statement on 2024 Presidential Election results

ATLANTA — Former President Donald Trump appears to have secured enough electoral votes to become our next U.S. President.

In response, Sierra Club Georgia Chapter Director G Webber (they/them) has issued the following statement:

“Today is a sobering day for many: Donald Trump has been declared the winner of the U.S. Presidential Election. While this isn’t the result we were hoping for, we will not allow decades of progress to be ripped away without a fight. Our critical work to defend our communities, our environment, and our democracy is now more important than ever.

“We will build power across our state to create a better future for all Georgians. We will stand firm in support of our most marginalized communities. We will fiercely oppose any assaults on our rights and environmental protections with everything we have.

“Your dedication and support means so much to us. Together, we will fight relentlessly to protect our communities and our planet.”
