JESSICA MOREHEAD NAMED SIERRA CLUB GEORGIA CHAPTER DIRECTOR

ATLANTA — Jessica Morehead has been named director of the Sierra Club Georgia Chapter after serving as its interim director since July.

Jessica was unanimously approved to the position by the Sierra Club Georgia Chapter’s Executive Committee at its meeting on Saturday.

Jessica Morehead

Born and raised in Atlanta, Jessica has been a part of the Georgia Chapter staff for nearly four years and worked as its deputy director before being named interim director last summer. She is a graduate of Georgia State University, worked as an educator at the Atlanta International School for several years, and has a history working for nonprofits in the Atlanta area, including the Atlanta Humane Society and Park Pride.

“It feels great to have the full support of our Executive Committee,” said Jessica. “Our state — and our world — depends on us to engage in the fight to mitigate the catastrophic impacts of the climate crisis, and I’m honored and excited to continue my career with Sierra Club here in Georgia as our state director during this crucial time.”

“The Sierra Club serves Georgians as the people’s strongest advocate for clean water, clean air, and protection of our wild, wonderful places, and Jessica is a great advocate to help every Georgian find their voice and join in our work,” said Jeff Schoenberg, Georgia Chapter Chair. “She is dedicated to the fight for environmental justice and committed to moving Georgia to adopt policies that support sustainable, healthy communities. Jessica’s leadership will be good for the Sierra Club and great for Georgia.”
