Hey Georgians, want to really make a difference for our state? Take a minute to do something BIG for the climate!
Help make sure the Public Service Commission (PSC) hears the will of the people of Georgia!
What do we want? We need to ditch coal, prevent methane gas from taking the place of coal, transition to renewables (solar plus battery) ASAP and protect our waterways from coal ash.
Georgia Power’s proposed Integrated Resource Plan is being evaluated right now and will shape the next 20 years of electricity production in our state. We need your voice!
Here is how you can make a comment:

2. Fill in the form with this info:

3. Add a comment. Comments can be as long or as short as you want. The key for a good comment is to make it your own. Ask yourself: Why is clean energy important to me? Why do I care about the consequences from dirty fossil fuel in my present life and for the future? How can the Public Service Commissioners elevate the needs of the public for access to clean air and water?
We encourage you to be yourself and keep it simple. If you need help framing your comment, feel free to use the following structure: Who I am // where I live // what I value // the moment // the problem // the solution.
Below are samples you can use for inspiration:
Sample one(fossil fuels): I am Jane Doe from Savannah. We all deserve to breathe fresh air, drink clean water, and live and work in a thriving community. As Commissioners, you have an opportunity now to make a difference. The problem is that fossil fuels are bad for the environment and very expensive in the long term. The solution is clear. Ditch the fossil fuels and invest in solar plus batteries.
Sample two (coal ash): My name is Jane Doe, I live in Bartow County near Plant Bowen. I am a working mother of three. I love taking my kids to swim in the Etowah River but I am starting to hesitate. I am seriously worried about the coal ash leaking into the water that I not only use to recreate but for drinking too. Please protect our waterways from coal ash. Please ensure that Georgia Power’s Plan accounts for safest option to protect ash from coming in contact with groundwater
Sample three (clean energy): Thank you Commissioners for the work that you do. You have a big responsibility. My name is Jane Doe. I have lived in Georgia for over 20 years. As you consider the future of our electrical grid, please keep in mind that solar energy is free and that solar energy is already the most economical option for our wallets and for the planet.
Sample four (energy transition): We all know that coal is dirty. Unfortunately, so is methane gas. Our future is literally in your hands. Please don’t exchange one fossil fuel for another. My name is Jane Doe. I was born and raised in Georgia. I am very proud that we have been listed as number 7 in solar. However, not too long ago we were number 5. I want us to be number 1. Why settle for silver when we can get gold? Require that Georgia Power invest in as much solar as possible.
Sample five (pollution): Commissioners, with all due respect, I ask that you decide based on what is best for all Georgians and not just for the few. My name is Jane Doe, I suffer from asthma. Since I was a kid (65 years ago) I have been using an inhaler. When the air is dirty, I have a harder time breathing. Fighting for clean air is important for my personal well being. I also want generations to come to have clean air and water. No one deserves any less.
Sample six (solar net metering): Hello Commissioners, and thank you for accepting comments on this year’s IRP. I am writing to encourage you to expand GA’s solar net metering program. It is often argued that net metering programs lead to subsidization by ratepayers without solar panels, however, we are ALL subsidizing Georgia Power’s profit because it continues to operate uneconomical coal plants. Solar is better for the planet and cheaper overall, it just makes sense to incentivize Georgians to install rooftop solar.
