April 25, 2018: The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved a first-of-its-kind utility investment in electric vehicle infrastructure in the Midwest: a $10M charging station rebate program for AEP Ohio.
The program approved last Wednesday was part of a settlement package submitted to the Commission last August. The inclusion of the EV program in the settlement was the result of dogged effort by Sierra Club and allies. The approved settlement also includes more flexible cost recovery for renewable investments required by AEP Ohio and rejection of an excessive fixed customer charge. ELP attorneys Joe Halso and Tony Mendoza led Sierra Club's work to negotiate the settlement and support its approval over the past year.
