Electric Vehicle Campaign

The Acadia Center released an excellent resource in a study showing that auto jobs are on the rise in the Northeast in states with direct sales, contrary to what the dealers have been saying. Click on this link to read more: http://acadiacenter.org/analysis-shows-direct-sales-of-electric-vehicles-have-not-negatively-impacted-car-dealership-employment-levels/

The Connecticut Chapter Sierra Club Electric Vehicle team is advocating for HB 7097, a bill that will help bring electric vehicles to our state. HB 7097 will bring sustainable energy vehicles, new tech jobs, clean air, and millions of dollars of economic development to Connecticut. Connecticut residents from all walks of life and across the state have come together to get Connecticut into "the fast lane" and pass HB 7097. We have collected nearly 10,000 signatures from residents who support bringing all-electric cars to Connecticut.

(click on the picture for the full report)

"The National Program to increase fuel efficiency and reduce global warming emissions for our cars and trucks is the biggest and most important step the country has ever taken to reduce our use of oil. Thanks to this program, drivers in the Northeast will be able to drive cleaner cars that use the latest technology to consume less gas and produce less pollution. This program will reduce emissions, save consumers money and help grow our economy. It represents a critical part of the climate and energy strategy of the Northeast region and must be fully implemented through 2025 to achieve maximum benefits."

Low-Cost EVs Are Hitting the Road

Drivers have never had more choices when purchasing a green (or greenish) car, and that's both a blessing and a curse. There are hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery-operated vehicles... the options can be overwhelming. And even though prices have fallen dramatically, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids still ain't cheap. We've winnowed down the options to just five relatively low-cost EVs, including family-friendly models, sporty models, and models that are perfect for commuters (although we of course encourage you to take transit or walk or bike to work if these are options for you). One of these models will set you back less than $10K!

Check 'em out.
