This week news broke that Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt removed nine members of a critical agency scientific review board and wants to replace them with members of the fossil fuel industry. Even though today is Pruitt’s birthday, you’d think it was the industry’s, with all the gifts he’s giving them via this news (and previous anti-clean air and anti-clean water moves, like publicly denying climate science and attempting to stop standards that would keep mercury out of our air and water).
So what do you get the guy who has (ruined) everything? We kept Pruitt’s birthday and love of coal, natural gas, and oil in mind and got him a list of who and what we think he could replace those valuable scientists with on the review board:
A lump of coal in a lab coat
A barrel of oil in a lab coat
A fracking drill in a lab coat
Disgraced and convicted former coal CEO Don Blankenship
An eraser (‘cause Pruitt is having a blast removing all climate science from the EPA website)
The owner of the Harvey Mine in Pennsylvania, where Pruitt announced his ridiculous “EPA Back to Basics” plan and which has been fined $3 million for Clean Water Act violations
This Dog:
Many of the same folks who said tobacco doesn’t cause cancer now are helping deny climate science, so..this guy:
We could go on and on, but Pruitt is probably getting plenty of birthday gifts from his friends in the fossil fuel industry.
