CATS Presentation on Proposition 127

Samantha Miller, Unitarian Universalist Church, October 12th, 3-4:30

She will discuss this proposition and its positive effects on our wild cats; puma, lynx and bobcats. It would eliminate trophy hunting of wild cats in Colorado.

Earth Hour Radio Show

Join us on every first Wednesday of the month, 12:15 PM, KAFM (88.1 in Grand Junction) for the Earth Hour Radio Show, where members of our group interview local community activists about their efforts to help make this a sustainable planet.

This Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, Janet Wyatt's guest will be Jenny Nitsky, on the Urban Heat Index Results.

Progress on our Kiosks!

This will be in the Sierra Club's Colorado Chapter's latest newsletter Peak and Prairie:

The Colorado Sierra Club's Western Slope Group has worked closely with the BLM and an artist for the past three years to design and install two, three-paneled, roofed educational kiosks at local trailheads. The first kiosk has been completed and educates locals and visitors about prairie dogs and their importance in our ecosystem. A small gathering was held at the site in June celebrating the completion of the project, and the local news station covered the story!

 

Janet Wyatt, Group Chair, shared "We are so proud of this accomplishment and how we will be educating the public on our public lands. Sometimes it is a slow process getting a worthy cause across the finish line, but we did it!"

 

 The second kiosk  focuses on desert riparian habitat and is installed in Rabbit Valley at the MacDonald Creek Trailhead. More information about this kiosk is in the Projects/Blog section of this website.
