This summer the Sierra Club led an outing to a local wolf refuge called Wolf Wood Refuge
This nonprofit organization is run by Paula Woerner and her dedicated staff. Their mission is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of vulnerable wolves in the western states, and to educate people about wolf and wolfdog behavior, and about misinformation and negative myths and stereotypes about this beautiful and maligned animal.
All the animals at Wolfwood are treated as individuals, with unique personalities, needs and qualities. They are paired for compatibility in large enclosures, with great consideration for all aspects of their wellbeing.
As part of their educational work, Wolfwood gives seminars and educational programs at schools, state parks, other animal care facilities and institutions. To learn more about Wolfwood Refuge, go to wolfwoodrefuge.org.
We learned about Wolves and visited the different families who have been paired together according to compatibility and friendships among these social animals.
