Bobbi Jo Chavarria joined Sierra Club California as Acting Director in July of 2024 to lead the organization’s statewide campaigns and policy initiatives. She has been a dedicated member of the Sierra Club since 2010, and held several roles within the Club. She first became a volunteer leader in the San Gorgonio Chapter's Political Committee, then a Chapter Chair, and most recently, a Senior Organizer with the National Field Team focusing on transportation issues.
Born and raised in Orange County, Bobbi Jo's early experiences camping in California's natural landscapes sparked her interest in environmental causes. She has worked as a community organizer with grassroots groups and political campaigns in working family communities, galvanizing her commitment to environmental justice and equity. Bobbi Jo holds a degree in Business Technology from Skadron College. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, writing, and engaging in spoken word activism.
