We started our trip at 9am where we picked up the kids at their school and drove them to Bear Mountain. On the way we played a game where we set up teams to spot the fast food chain of their choice and those who spotted their choice the most by the end of the trip on the way back would win. They seemed into but unfortunately the ride up to Bear Mountain doesn't have a lot of fast food chains or restaurants but we spotted a few. At Bear Mountain, since we had about an hour for the next ice skating start time, we ate lunch by the carousel and then rode the carousel. After which it was time to head over to ice skating, to get ready we played another game to learn each other's names with the new leaders that joined us and then played a game where we picked a color and a dance move and whomever liked that color had to do the move. Outside we did some stretching, and then headed over to ice skate. Most of the students had never ice skated before, but by the end of the 1.5 hrs of ice skating most students were off the wall and skating on their own! After ice skating, some kids had a cart wheel competition, a rolling down the hill activity, and then we headed to a very short hike. Most of the students were tired but still excited. One of the CatRock youth showed the students how to read the trail markers and talked about the AT, which the students seemed to enjoy. At the end we did a closing circle where students expressed their excitement over learning how to ice skate and be in nature.
