When we arrived we immediately got our skates to get our full hour on the skating rink. Most of the students were beginners and desperately clung to the railing with screams of fear and delight. A few brave souls ventured out into the middle of the rink and carefully made their way back to the safety of the railing taking a few spills along the way and laughing at each others' awkwardness. Afterwards, we had lunch on the picnic benches nearby and braved the winter wind with stoic good humor. Then we went for a walk around the lake to get warmed up, and indeed the sun was a joy to feel. The landscape was beautiful: water, rocks, trees, surrounded by low mountains all bathed in the noon sun. We wrapped up our outing with a circle activity where each of us shared their favorite activity: ice skating won, hands down!
