December 4, 2022: The energetic bunch of PS 159 students (accompanied with their parents) met the ICO leaders in Central Park with great enthusiasm. They all were excited and eager to start skating right away. Before getting on the ice, we played some group games to get to know each other and to do some warm-up exercises. We had students from being completely novice ice-skater to being very comfortable with it. The ICO leaders teamed up with students according to their abilities to enhance their experience with this fun activity. Students and their families had a great time learning skating, gliding, mingling with each other and sometimes, falling 😉. By end of the session, even newbies were able to walk or somewhat glide comfortably on the ice. Even though it was cold, students and their families were happy to be outside and doing something different and learning/honing the new skills. All of them were grateful to NYC-ICO for giving them an opportunity to explore outdoor in different ways. A day well spent!
