Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2024 is "Planet vs. Plastics."
EARTH DAY HUNTSVILLE: APRIL 20
Huntsville will observe Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, during a 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. celebration at the Hays Nature Preserve. The public is invited to enjoy earth-friendly exhibitors with informative and interactive displays, live music from Alli and Christy, vegetable plant giveaway, face painting, concessions and more. Auburn Southeastern Raptors will not be able to attend this year but we look forward to their return in 2025.
Parking may be limited at Hays Nature Preserve during Earth Day festivities, but parking is available at the Mark Russell Recreational Center, 429 Taylor Road. Huntsville Transit will pick up attendees from the Mark Russell Center and take them to the Hays Nature Preserve education building. Signs will note drop off/pickup locations.
EARTH DAY MOBILE BAY: APRIL 20
Started 34 years ago, Earth Day Mobile Bay is a celebration of the Earth for the people living around our incredibly diverse, beautiful, fun, ecologically rich and nevertheless fragile bay area as well as one of our country's best loved Earth Day festivals. Last years festival was a Fantastic Day with Fun, Sun, People, Information and Great Music!
