The Alabama Sierra Club and Wild Alabama partnered to co-lead a hike at Sougahoagdee Falls for a stunningly beautiful day earlier this month. These rain sprite hikers enjoyed 6 waterfalls while hiking along Brushy Creek in the Bankhead National Forest. Other treasures included a fossil, orchids, geologic wonders, and a hemlock forest. We dined al fresco under a giant rock shelf overlooking the falls. Overall, a very good day. Join us next time.
Our next joint venture is tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13th on the Pinhoti Trail. See below for details.
Following that will be in the Bankhead on January 14th. Contact me at vaughnmillner@gmail.com or Bob Locklear at boblocklear@mac.com to get involved.
Thank you to all the adventurous hikers this week, to Janice Barrett for her shared knowledge, and to all of Wild Alabama for all they do to protect our wild places.
