Are you interested in leading Outings in Alabama?

This is a call to Sierra Club members in Alabama who love to explore our great outdoors. Sierra Club Alabama is seriously kicking off Outings in our state and we are partnering with some of Georgia’s leaders to help get us started.

To learn how to lead and assist groups in the outdoors, consider signing up for this Sierra Club Outings Leader training on April 23rd at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Georgia. Alabama Sierra Club members are invited!

From Lee Graham in Georgia:

There will be a Sierra Club Outings Leader training Class April 23rd at Sweetwater Creek State Park.  The training will be led by outings leaders including Grant Brown, Steve Mintz and Lee Graham. We love our hiking and camping outings with GA Sierra Club, but we can't do it without our volunteer leaders. Come learn how to lead and assist groups safely in the outdoors.  Learn trip planning, risk, and emergency management, publicizing, leadership and decision-making skills.  This is the Sierra Club OLT 101 (Outing Leader Training) course.  Sierra Outing Leader Training is a FREE half/day course.

After lunch there will be an optional $30 Basic First Aid Class with emphasis on Outdoor First Aid. Existing Sierra Club leaders who would like to attend the First Aid Class only ONLY are welcome to come join us for lunch then take the First Aid Class. Sierra Club recommends all leaders take an in-person first aid class if possible.  Sierra Club Leaders with Basic First Aid are required to renew their BFA every 2 years, so this is a good opportunity to renew.

For everyone interested, Please sign up if you plan to come.  We need minimum of 6 for the BFA class. For class info/registration, see:   Sierra Club Leader Training

Note: Sweetwater Creek State Park is located at 1750 Mt Vernon Rd, Lithia Springs, GA 30122.
