Christmas Tree Recycling at Gulf State Park

Great way to keep those trees out of the dump and doing good!

(from the State Park) Did you have a live tree for Christmas this year? We’d be happy to accept it! Recycled Christmas trees are placed in the dunes each year to accumulate sand. Then, in the spring, we plant native plants around the trees to help build the dunes. It’s very important that we take steps to protect and restore our coastal habitat. These dune structures are our first line of defense against storm surge.
Once you’ve removed all your ornaments, lights, and tinsel, bring your bare tree to the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion! You may place your trees on the eastern side of the parking lot, beside the dumpsters. In the picture below, the red box indicates where you can drop your tree. Thank you for your contribution to our dune conservation efforts!
